Description
It is seeing younger people live a fuller life that hurts him the most. For he grew up in times, when minimums were minimal. It is the number of missed opportunities that has cemented this expression of distress. His poor up bringing has denied him the opportunity to drive a car, travel distant lands or even buy land. He has missed the opportunity to become a good father and grand father. His children and grand children has all moved to the cities in search for a modern life. He has never left the farmlands. Ever. He has come to terms with the fact that he was born, he lives and will die in the same land. His facial expression has been shaped by the missed opportunities. In short, this is painting and poem have been created to make the viewer/reader appreciate life and all the opportunities it presents. No one should live their life in regret and “what if’s…”only if I’s” and a whole lot of “I could have’s”.
